Congressman Colin Allred Wins Democratic Nomination in U.S. Senate Race to Unseat Ted Cruz

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issues the following statement:

“Texas Democrats congratulate Colin Allred on tonight’s victory. Colin is a tireless public servant with a strong record of standing up for everyday Texans. Since Ted Cruz’s near-defeat in 2018, and since then he’s taken a vacation to Cancun while Texans were freezing and continually stood in the way of common sense efforts to lower prescription drug prices, raise wages, enhance border security, and improve our roads and bridges. 2024 is the year that Texans send Ted Cruz packing.

“I am grateful for State Senator Roland Gutierrez, Rep. Carl Sherman and every Texas Democrat that stepped up to run for the United States Senate – because of their commitment to our state and our party, Democratic primary voters witnessed one of the most robust statewide primary campaigns in recent memory.
