As Texas Continues to Lag in Testing, Trump Admits He Asked Staff to “Slow Down” Testing for Coronavirus

From Falsifying Testing information to Cutting Funding for Testing Sites, Trump and Abbott have Failed Texans Fighting the Coronavirus Battle

Austin, TX — Today, as coronavirus cases in Texas have risen the last 11 days in a row, Donald Trump doubled down on his ludicrous admission that he asked his staff to “slow down” testing for the coronavirus saying that he “doesn’t kid” about claims like that.

This admission comes as Texas still has “inconsistent” testing and has lied about its testing data, comingling antibody tests with coronavirus tests.

If that wasn’t even bad enough, a new bombshell report from Talking Points Memo shows that the Trump Administration is about to end funding for testing in Texas and other states by the end of the month.

As of June 23 at 12:00 PM CT, over 122,000 Americans and 2,192 Texans have died as a result of the coronavirus.

Now, Texas Republicans up and down the ballot have to answer for Trump knowingly letting Americans get sick and die.

The Trump Republican Party is on the ballot in November.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“As Trump admits to ordering the slowdown of coronavirus tests our state has seen the highest number of new cases in the country, 11 days in a row. Now, the Trump Administration is about to end the funding for crucial coronavirus testing sites across Texas. Trump doesn’t give a damn about the health and safety of our Texas families. He only cares about doing whatever he can to appease his right-wing base.

“Texans are looking for a leader with the empathy and competence to fight the coronavirus and bring stability to our country. A real leader would never order the slowdown of tests as Americans continue to die. Joe Biden will deliver real relief to American workers, families, and small businesses; and reverse Trump’s coronavirus disaster. Texas will elect Joe Biden as our next president.”
