Extremist Marjorie Taylor Greene Clone Monica De La Cruz Hernandez Announces Yet Another Run for Congress

Losing Once Wasn’t Enough, Hernandez Looks to Join the Greene-Boebert Conspiracy Wing of the Republican Party

Austin, Texas — Today, an extremist carbon-copy of disgraced Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene — Monica De La Cruz Hernandez — announced yet another run for Congress in Texas’ 15th Congressional District after losing decisively to Congressman Vicente Gonzalez in November.

Hernandez is best known for not accepting the results of the Presidential election, promoting conspiracy theories that the election was stolen, and staying silent about the Capitol riot that resulted in the deaths of five people.

Texas Democratic Party Communications Director Abhi Rahman issued the following statement:

“If getting beaten once wasn’t enough, extremist Monica De La Cruz Hernandez announced yet another run for Congress. Hernandez is a far-right conspiracy theorist built in a similar mold to disgraced Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Conspiracy theorists like Greene and Hernandez egged on the mob that attacked the Capitol and killed a police officer and injured dozens more. She continues to spew lies about election results and refuses to accept the outcome of a legal and transparent election. We already have one of these conspiracy theorists in Congress and we don’t need another.

“On the flipside, Congressman Gonzalez has spent his entire life fighting for the people of Central and South Texas. He has consistently fought to protect our jobs, improve access to health care, defend our law enforcement, and beat back the coronavirus crisis currently devastating our communities.

“With Congressman Gonzalez’s track record, he will win re-election in Texas’ 15th Congressional district and it won’t be particularly close.”
