ICYMI: DNC Names Texas a Top Battleground State, Announces Historic Investment into the Texas Democratic Party

Investment to Help Fuel Texas Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign

Austin, TX — Today, the Democratic National Committee again named Texas a top-tier battleground state, announcing their investment in the Texas Democratic Party’s efforts to build the biggest coordinated campaign in our history.

Funding a range of positions to help the Texas Democratic Party organize and mobilize the new Texas electorate in diverse and underserved communities, the Democratic National Committee has now more than tripled its investment into the Texas Democratic Party since 2016.

With this new investment, the Texas Democratic Party is one step closer to fulfilling our path to victory.

Stay tuned for more details on our expansive, innovative coordinated campaign coming soon.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Texas is the biggest battleground state in the country. Once Texas turns blue, the White House will follow. We thank the DNC for their historic investments in our state and their commitment to flipping Texas up and down the ballot. We also thank the Texas DNC delegation for their service to this state, work with the national party, and steadfast advocacy in ensuring a more equitable, just Texas where everybody has the freedom to succeed.

“As one of the most diverse states in the country, Texas is the pathway to winning the White House. Texas voters are more important at the Presidential-level than eve before and Texans are demanding change.

“We will win the White House, take out John Cornyn, elect more Texas Democrats to Congress, break the supermajority in the Texas Senate, take back the Texas House, and win hundreds of local races across the state. Together, we will win up and down the ballot.”

Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez issued the following statement:

“The DNC is making historic, early investments to build strong, multiple pathways for our eventual nominee to win in November and support Democrats at every level of the ballot. By investing in these states now, we’re putting the Trump campaign on defense, helping ensure our eventual nominee will be able grow their general election operation as quickly as possible, and helping make sure that every Democrat running for office has the infrastructure they need to be successful. Every week brings new examples of how Donald Trump has broken his promises and hurt working families — and this program will help build the infrastructure we need to beat him.”
