AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Monique Alcala issued the following statement:

“Like Dobbs, the U.S. Supreme Court has left access to mifepristone up to the states.  The FDA has deemed Mifepristone safe and effective for over 20 years – but Texas Republican extremists don’t care about the science, data or the basic understanding of medicine. They only care about controlling our bodies and our livelihoods. Texas is ground zero for groups like the plaintiffs that took on the Supreme Court to further eliminate access to abortion – and we remain fervent in our fight to restore the basic freedom to make our own healthcare decisions without government interference and punishment. I want to be clear: Each and every time a corrupt court, elected official or rogue group attacks reproductive healthcare – our movement to elect Democrats at every level grows stronger. We won’t stop until we restore our rights.”
