Texas Democratic Convention Highlights Party Unity and Momentum Ahead of November

AUSTIN, Texas — The City of El Paso opened its doors to thousands of delegates, guests, activists and elected officials attending the 2024 Texas Democratic Convention over the weekend. Texas Democrats made history by bringing our movement to the border with one resounding message: Our mission is to elect leaders who will champion and restore our sacred freedoms, liberties, and values at every level of government – and we will not relent until this mission is accomplished.

Additionally, the Texas Democratic Convention conducted important party business that further solidified a message of a unified party – including unanimously passing changes to the Party Rules and Platform while electing 12 Democratic National Committee Members, 264 National Delegates and Alternates that will proudly represent Texas in nominating President Joe Biden.

“The majesty of the Franklin Mountains in El Paso served as the perfect backdrop for the 2024 Texas Democratic Convention. Democrats have shown this weekend that we are the only party ready to lead on the issues affecting Texas families, from women’s healthcare to public education to securing our border,” said Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa. “It is clear that Texas Democrats are fired up and ready to work together over the next five months to send Colin Allred to the U.S. Senate, and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”

“We are building a big, diverse coalition that includes everyone. And this November, we’re going to shock the world,” said U.S. Senate Nominee Congressman Colin Allred. “We’re going to beat Ted Cruz, and elect strong leaders up and down the ballot that will protect our freedoms.”

“The stakes in this election could not be higher and Texas Democrats know it," said Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. "This November, I know the Lone Star State will be ready to stand up to those who weaken our democracy, threaten our freedoms, and seek power for personal gain."
