Texas Democrats Celebrate Rosh Hashanah

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Democratic Party Co-Executive Director Hannah Roe Beck issued the following statement on Rosh Hashanah:

“Tonight at sunset, Jewish communities across Texas and beyond will celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year.

“Rosh Hashanah is a very meaningful time for my family and so many others. As we mark the start of the High Holidays — culminating in Yom Kippur — we reflect on the year behind us and recommit to a better year ahead. Tonight’s traditions, like dipping apples in honey at the dinner table with our families, give us an opportunity to focus on what matters most: showing up for the people in our lives, and working together to build a sweeter world.

“I’m deeply proud of all that Jewish Texans do every day to make our state, our country, and our world a better place. Our core Jewish values are also our core Democratic values: compassion, community, education, justice, and openness.

“On behalf of Texas Democrats, I wish everyone celebrating a joyful and peaceful New Year. Shanah Tovah!”
