Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa Issues Statement Regarding Rep. Frederick Frazier’s Disgraceful “Service” to Texas

AUSTIN, Texas — State Representative Frederick Frazier (R-McKinney) pled “no contest” in criminal court on Tuesday after he was indicted by a Collin County grand jury this past summer for impersonating a public servant, a third-degree felony in Texas.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement in response to Frazier’s “no contest” plea, his avoidance of a trial by jury of his peers, and subsequent dishonorable discharge from the Dallas Police Department:

“Let me be crystal clear - State Rep. Frederick Frazier doesn’t come close to representing the values of the Dallas Police Department, or matching the bravery or selflessness shown by a majority of Dallas police officers. He is a walking example of a ‘bad apple,’ and I hope that next November, voters in House District 61 follow Dallas PD’s example and relieve him from his duties as their legislator.

“Frederick Frazier is a criminal. He’s guilty of much more than impersonating a public servant: he has defaced the badge and brought dishonor to the thousands of honorable men and women who uphold their solemn oath to serve and protect every single day. Texans were shocked when they read the damning reports from the Dallas Morning News about his extensive record of excessive force, racial profiling, usage of racial slurs while on the job, and disregard of basic civil rights while an officer with Dallas PD. Frazier’s record isn’t one of service to Dallas, but one of corruption, abuse, and disrespect. Though he leaves the Dallas Police Department in disgrace and brings additional shame to the Texas House of Representatives, it’s up to voters in Collin County to retire him for good.”
