AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement in celebration of Labor Day and all the sacrifices workers make to keep our state running:

“Today, we proudly honor and celebrate the labor movement’s tireless work across Texas. We’re proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies in labor to protect the right to organize and collectively bargain, secure higher wages and comprehensive benefits, ensure safe workplaces, lower costs for working families, and invest in apprenticeships and quality training for new workers. 

“Even in the face of relentless opposition from a right-to-work, anti-union state government, Texans have shown incredible resilience by driving union participation to new heights. But our fight is far from over. Texas Democrats are more committed than ever to strengthening and expanding unions so that every Texan can secure a job with fair wages, strong benefits, and the protections they deserve.”
