Coordinated Campaign Organizing Director

Summary: The Texas Offense is seeking an experienced Organizing Director to lead a diverse and robust organizing team in Texas in 2024. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to building the coordinated campaign working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in November 2024. The Organizing Director will be responsible for coaching and managing a team of Deputy Organizing Directors, Regional Organizing Directors, and their organizers to implement voter contact and volunteer recruitment programs across the state in a first of its kind bilingual approach. The Organizing Director should be a skilled manager, creative thinker, solutions-oriented, and capable of motivating a diverse staff. The Organizing Director will report to the Coordinated Campaign Director. This is a full-time, in-person, cycle-based position in Dallas, Texas, and expected to end in November 2024.

Responsibilities: 

  • Hire and manage a team of Deputy Organizing Directors and Regional Organizing Directors to implement an in person organizing plan that includes; Voter Registration, Mobilization and Persuasion in a bilingual fashion

  • Develop and implement organizing plan that will lead the organizing team to recruit more volunteers and meet voters where they are in both Spanish and English.

  • Create strategies and systems that lead your teams to successfully meet daily and weekly organizing metrics, as well as maintain data integrity

  • Work effectively with other campaign departments to facilitate support structures for the organizing team

  • Collaborate with state leadership to implement new communications, messaging, and digital strategies

  • Ensure that all organizing staff are properly trained on the technical aspects of the job, and work with the training team to fill the gaps and raise the floor of productivity

  • Other duties as assigned by the Coordinated Campaign Director.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with different types of stakeholders, from high level elected officials to grassroots activists

  • Commitment to active listening and collaboration with teammates and stakeholders

  • Experience meeting deadlines, and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate priorities, needs, and expectations to organizing staff and managers, both orally and in writing

  • Desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and grow as a professional, as well as do the same for the staff that this position manages.

  • Access to a vehicle and a cellphone

Preferred Background and Experience: 

  • Three cycles of organizing experience and two cycles of staff management experience

  • Proficiency with Votebuilder/VAN

Salary And Benefits:  Salary for this position is $8,000 a month. The Texas Democratic Party offers medical, vision, and dental insurance. Employee’s insurance premiums are paid fully by TDP. This is a cycle-only position.

Location:  This is an in-person role based in person in Dallas, TX and the ability to work remotely will not be available. This role will require statewide travel.

Coordinated Campaign Organizer

Description: 

The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for organizers  to help lead us to victory in 2024.  We are looking for highly motivated, passionate, and talented organizers to help elect Democrats up and down the ticket.  Organizers will recruit and develop a number of volunteer leaders to engage in direct and relational voter contact.  Organizers will collaborate with their volunteers to build and expand local volunteer infrastructure.  At their core, an organizer connects and activates people; is ready to build relationships; loves talking to voters; and believes in developing and coaching others.  Organizers will report to their Regional Organizing Director.  This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position regularly requiring up to 55 hours per week, with increased hours expected during the Get Out The Vote period leading up to the election.  This is a union-eligible position and a cycle-based position ending in November 2024.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Work to build local grassroots volunteer leadership that will then engage in direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment and retention. 

  • Implement grassroots organizing tactics, including organizing and executing effective activities, such as community events, house meetings, tabling, high traffic canvassing, door-to-door canvassing & phone banks.  

  • Develop and train volunteers to build a voter turnout machine

  • Build the local volunteer infrastructure necessary for success in November and beyond.

  • Meet and exceed goals for volunteer recruitment & retention as well as direct voter contact.

Required Skills: 

  • Strong commitment to Democratic values and enthusiasm for electing Colin Allred and Democrats up and down the ballot. 

  • At least one cycle of organizing experience. Experience on a statewide or national campaign, preferred 

  • Experience recruiting, training, and building lasting relationships with passionate voters and volunteers  

  • Experience with VAN, Microsoft Office and Google Docs

  • You have access to reliable transportation, and are willing to travel frequently.

Salary: Hourly rate with minimum $4,262 per month; $4,993 per month during 30-day GOTV period

Data Science Intern

Summary: The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for a data science intern. In this role interns will learn about how data is used in politics, assist the party in its use of technology, and improve various programs. The data science intern will report to the deputy data science director, and will be a member of the Data team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about utilizing data effectively in order to help Democrats succeed in Texas.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Write SQL to analyze data and build reports and dashboards in Looker Studio

  • Design and execute projects for relevant analytical requests directed to the TDP Data Team

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of data deliverables, such as: partisanship & turnout modeling, data visualizations, and maintaining pipelines.

  • Additional duties as assigned by the deputy data science director

Required Skills: 

  • A willingness to learn technical skills on the job

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Some background in statistics, CS/CIT, or political data

Preferred Experience (a plus but not required):

  • Political or electoral experience, including having volunteered with campaigns

  • Comfort with technical skills such as SQL, data visualization, and/or working in a Google Cloud environment. 

  • Familiarity with Python or R, particularly in data science contexts

  • Familiarity with GIS technologies
