As Mesquite Manufacturing Plant Opens, Ted Cruz Opposed Creating Defense Jobs in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Today General Dynamics opened its new plant in Mesquite, Texas that will create hundreds of good-paying jobs in the defense industrial sector once it comes fully online.

But Ted Cruz “opposed aid money that is building” it.

  • According to the Washington Post, “Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) opposed aid money that is building a brand new plant to produce 155mm artillery shells in Mesquite, Tex.”

  • It’s “strengthening our defense industrial base and creating good manufacturing jobs for American workers.”

  • Sen. John Cornyn, who supported funding for the plant, spoke at its groundbreaking today.
