BREAKING: Trump Administration Stripping Visas From Dozens of Texas Students Without Explanation
AUSTIN, Texas – After reports that the Trump administration quietly revoked visas for 15 international students at Texas A&M without offering cause, more Texas students are being targeted.
It remains unclear why the Trump Administration has revoked the visas of dozens of students from Texas A&M, UT-Dallas, UNT, Texas Woman’s University, Texas Tech, UH, and UT-RGV—leaving them vulnerable to detention and deportation without having “committed any dangerous offenses.” In fact, officials have offered vague justifications, citing everything from alleged protest activity to minor traffic violations, but university leaders say they’ve received no clear explanation.
Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder issued the following statement:
“Like everything the Trump administration does, these actions taken against Texas students appear to have come without justification, rationale, or good sense. Whether this crackdown stems from his prejudice against immigrants or his disdain for the First Amendment, either are unacceptable. It’s more recklessness, more chaos, and more instability – the name of the game for Donald Trump and his whole party right now.”
Texas College Democrats President Rohit Shajan issued the following statement:
“Universities all over the world accept international students, with many of the best and brightest bringing their knowledge and expertise to the United States. These students went through the process of obtaining their visas, and deserve to obtain an education just like the American students at Universities abroad.”
