Cruz Skips Hearing Where Texas Woman Shared Experience of Being Forced to Flee the State for Life-Saving Abortion Care

AUSTIN, Texas – Yesterday the Senate Judiciary Committee heard from Lauren Miller, who was forced to flee Texas after learning she needed to terminate a much-wanted pregnancy.

Ted Cruz, one of its senior members, “did not attend” the hearing – and “Cruz aides did not respond to a request for comment.

Texas Democratic Party spokesperson Ryan Radulovacki released the following statement:

“Texas’ extreme abortion ban is in effect today because of Ted Cruz’s work to overturn Roe protections, put anti-abortion judges on the bench, and elect the legislators who spearheaded the Texas ban. It’s no surprise that Cruz refused to hear Lauren Miller’s testimony – he fully supports Texas’ near-total ban and has said it’s ‘perfectly reasonable.’”
