Chairman Hinojosa Releases Statement on AG Paxton’s Lawsuit Against Biden Administration Over Emergency Abortion Protections

DALLAS, Texas -- Today, Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement on Attorney General Ken Paxton’s lawsuit against the Biden Administration over the Administration’s federal emergency protections for abortion care if it is needed to save the life of the mother: 

“Ken Paxton has showed Texans with this latest lawsuit that there is truly no limit to his and Texas Republicans’ depravity and extremism. 

“For Paxton to argue for limitations on emergency care – even if it is needed to save the life of the mother – just so he can plow forward with his radical, wildly unpopular, far-right agenda is heinous and appalling. This is not about being ‘pro-life.’ This is about forcing birth, even if it will literally kill women.

“We thank the Biden Administration for fighting to federally protect Texans even in the face of cruelty like this at the state level. But let’s be clear: Texas women cannot be forced to endure a day longer of this nightmare than is necessary. Paxton, Dan Patrick, Greg Abbott, and all these Texas Republicans must be voted out at the earliest possible opportunity – this coming November. Lives are on the line.”
