REPORT: Texas Teenager Died After Being Denied Emergency Abortion Care Ted Cruz Fought to Ban

AUSTIN, Texas – In a tragic report today, ProPublica shared the story of 18-year-old Nevaeh Crain, a Texan who died after being denied the emergency abortion care that she needed to save her life.

Crain visited Texas emergency rooms three times in 20 hours with life threatening symptoms, but because of the extreme ban Ted Cruz worked to implement, doctors were unable to provide her the care she needed.

Texas women are losing their lives because of the extreme abortion ban and draconian policies Ted Cruz has pushed. Cruz called this ban that has tied doctors’ hands “perfectly reasonable” and strongly urged the Supreme Court to let states like Texas ban emergency abortions to save the life of the mother.
