AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issues the following statement on the passing of McLennan County Commissioner Patricia “Pat” Chisholm-Miller:
“Patricia “Pat” Chisholm-Miller shattered two glass ceilings in McLennan County – she was not only the first woman to serve on the McLennan County Commissioners Court, but she also made history as the first Black woman elected at that level in the county’s history.
“Commissioner Chisholm-Miller was known throughout her community for the standard of excellence she set in her service to her neighbors. Her dedication to improving the lives of her constituents was matched only by her boundless energy and drive. As we remember Commissioner Chisholm-Miller, we are reminded of her ability to meet every challenge, exceed every expectation, and leave a lasting legacy in McLennan County and in Central Texas.
“In honoring Commissioner Chisholm-Miller, we all should strive, and work daily to live the values she exemplified, and commit to continue her work in service to our communities. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband, Robert Miller Sr., and to all who were touched by her extraordinary life. Let us remember her not just for the titles she held and the history she made, but for the lives she touched, the bridges she built, and the indelible mark she leaves on our hearts and on her beloved home of McLennan County.”
