Texas Democratic Party Issues Statement Ahead of January 6 Anniversary
AUSTIN, Texas – Today, ahead of the three-year anniversary of Donald Trump inciting a violent insurrection on the United States Capitol, Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement.
“Three years ago, Texans watched as Donald Trump encouraged — and Ted Cruz bought time for — a violent mob to storm the United States Capitol and attack law enforcement in an attempt to remain in power. Trump and Cruz’s continuous assaults on the foundations of our country drove our democracy to the brink of ruin on January 6, 2021, and Trump and MAGA Republicans are threatening to throw our nation into chaos once again. Texans value our democracy and freedoms and want them strengthened, not attacked. Texas voters know how high the stakes are this November and will stand with President Biden,Vice President Harris and our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate as they fight to defend freedom and democracy for all of us.”
