Vice President Kamala Harris to Keynote 2022 Texas Democratic Party JJ Reception in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas -- Today, the Texas Democratic Party is proud to announce that Vice President Kamala Harris will deliver the keynote address at the 2022 Texas Democratic Party JJ Reception in Austin on Saturday, October 8.
“We’re thrilled and honored that Vice President Kamala Harris will be coming to Texas to help us raise funds ahead of the most crucial election in the history of our state,” said Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa. “Her trip shows that the nation’s eyes truly are upon Texas as we head into the midterm elections – and, critically, that from Beto’s race, to Mike’s and Rochelle’s races, to races up and down the ballot, Texas is a winnable state. We’re grateful for all the work President Biden and Vice President Harris have done in Washington to deliver for hard-working Texans – and we’re equally thankful that they’re so invested in winning state races in Texas so we can reverse the dangerous course Greg Abbott and his extremist Republican cronies have plunged our state down.”

About the Texas Democratic Party JJ Reception:
The Johnson-Jordan Reception is an annual event held by the Texas Democratic Party to celebrate the inspirational and guiding legacies of iconic Texas Democrats President Lyndon Johnson and Congresswoman Barbara Jordan – and raise funds for the Party to be able to execute critical programs, which this year includes vote-by-mail assistance, voter protection efforts, community organizing, direct voter contact, and more.
Funds raised from past iterations of the Texas Democratic Party JJ Reception have helped the Party turn all of the largest counties in Texas solidly blue. We have gained majorities in suburban counties like Fort Bend and Tarrant Counties and have elected the first countywide Democrats in places like Williamson County. In the 2020 cycle, the Presidential election was the closest it has been in decades, and we came within 25,000 votes of flipping our State House. We are continuing this work by igniting campaigns from the ground up at every level, protecting our sacred right to vote, registering voters across the state, and providing the data infrastructure needed for Texas Democrats to win.
