As Federal Judge Hears DOJ Case Against Abbott’s Inhumane Border Policies, Democrats Applaud Biden Administration Intervention

AUSTIN, Texas — Today, a federal judge is hearing arguments from the Department of Justice’s Western District of Texas regarding Greg Abbott’s disgraceful border buoy installation. Texas Democrats remain supportive of humane border security measures and the fight against fentanyl trafficking, but express their opposition to Greg Abbott’s death traps laid illegally in the Rio Grande River. 

State Representative Victoria Neave Criado, representing House District 107 in Dallas County, issued the following statement: 

“Texas Democrats believe that the federal government can and should protect the border in a humane way that guarantees safety to children, women and men traveling to America to seek out refuge from violence. However, the draconian and inhumane actions that Governor Abbott has taken are truly beyond the pale. As we have come to expect with extremists, the cruelty is the point. As Texas Democrats, we will continue to work to safeguard our border in a way that does not dehumanize families who have already sacrificed so much for a better life for themselves and their families.”
