BREAKING: Republicans Block Protections for IVF
Following MAGA Republican senators blocking protections for IVF, Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement:
“The GOP applauded after Donald Trump got his way when Roe v. Wade was overturned and extreme attacks on reproductive access became a reality. Now, as access to IVF is being ripped away from families, MAGA Republicans have shown once again they are intent on forcing their extreme agenda into the most personal decisions a family could make. From birth control to IVF, Trump and Texas Republicans are hellbent on tearing apart Texan’s freedoms to make their own decisions for their futures. Texans have had enough – and they’ll reject MAGA Republicans’ deeply unpopular anti-freedom agenda this November.”
It’s not just Senate Republicans. 125 House Republicans, including 17 Texas Republicans, support dangerous legislation that would rip away reproductive rights:
Reps. August Pfluger, Beth Van Duyne, Wesley Hunt, Brian Babin, Michael Cloud, Jodie Arrington, Randy Weber, Tony Gonzales, Lane Gooden, Ronnie Jackson, Pete Sessions, Keith Self, Jack Ellezy, John R. Carter, Roger Williams, Pat Fallon, Nathaniel Moran have all co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, which would completely restrict reproductive freedom without any protections for IVF.
Donald Trump is responsible for helping to overturn Roe v. Wade and putting IVF at risk, and he’s proud of it:
Trump has bragged about restricting the reproductive freedom of millions of women, saying proudly that “I'm the one that got rid of Roe v. Wade.”
Trump’s extremist allies are already laying out plans for a nationwide abortion ban, attacks on same-sex marriage, and restrictions on birth control.
Trump has long supported a nationwide abortion ban, even saying in a speech to his MAGA supporters that “there of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it’s very important.”
Trump has even gone so far as to call for punishing women who have abortions.
Trump has claimed credit for every extreme abortion ban passed thanks to his role in overturning Roe v. Wade, and said he was “proud” to have terminated abortion rights.
And Trump’s close allies have plans to effectively ban abortion nationwide without the help of Congress. Trump’s allies could even attempt to prosecute doctors and patients for sending or receiving abortion medication in the mail.
