RELEASE: John Cornyn is Unfit to Serve as Senate Republican Leader

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issues a statement in response to Texas Senator John Cornyn’s Candidacy for Senate Republican Leader: 

“In a statement to his MAGA colleagues, John Cornyn boasts about helping pass Trump’s historic tax cuts for billionaires and placing two Justices on the Supreme Court bench that went on to overthrow Roe v. Wade – catapulting our country into chaos. Cornyn’s candidacy is eclipsed by his weakness in securing another term as the Senator from Texas in 2026 as Texas grows more Democratic by the year – despite his efforts to turn our state into ground zero for a dysfunctional MAGA society. And while John Cornyn has been pawing for this position for years, Texans know that he’s just another Mitch McConnell in sheep's clothing striving for a shred of relevance.”
