On the Anniversary of Dobbs Leak, Remember Cruz Celebrated the Decision and Called the Texas Ban “Perfectly Reasonable”
AUSTIN, Texas – Two years ago today the Supreme Court opinion that overturned Roe v. Wade was leaked, paving the way for Texas’ near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Ted Cruz pushed to overturn Roe for years, then celebrated the decision that did so. Here are the facts on Cruz’s anti-choice record:
He called the overturning of Roe “nothing short of a massive victory” – and as for the radical Texas law that outlawed nearly all abortion in-state, Cruz believes it to be “perfectly reasonable.”
But that shouldn’t be a surprise coming from Cruz, who believes all abortion should be banned without exceptions whatsoever.
And Cruz would accept the unthinkable reality that Texas has seen 26,000 rape-related pregnancies since its ban took effect – because he believes “as horrible as that crime is, I don't believe it's the child's fault.”
