REMINDER: Cruz-Supported Measures Would Put IVF at Risk
AUSTIN, Texas – This National Infertility Awareness Week, Texans should remember that Ted Cruz’s actions speak louder than his words – and he’s been on the record for years pushing measures that would threaten access to IVF and other fertility treatments.
Here’s a reminder of Cruz’s anti-IVF record:
Cruz has “enthusiastically” supported so-called “personhood” measures that could impact not just the use of IVF but access to contraception — from IUDs to over-the-counter emergency contraceptives.
Cruz put pen to paper on a “personhood affirmation” declaring his support for an amendment that would ban abortion from conception.
Cruz refused to support legislation in the Senate that would protect IVF across the country.
In Cruz’s own words: “Every human life… should be protected in law from conception until natural death.”
And after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which Cruz praised as a “massive victory,” “personhood laws… could make the practice of intentionally or accidentally destroying embryos during the IVF process illegal.”
Watch what Cruz does – not what he says. He can’t run from his extremist record on reproductive freedom, and Texans will reject him in November for it.
