GET THE FACTS: Ted Cruz Has Voted Against Law Enforcement Funding Over and Over and Over Again

AUSTIN, Texas – Ted Cruz’s well-deserved “reputation as a hyper-partisan” means he’s repeatedly refused to stand with broad bipartisan efforts to support law enforcement.

“Ted Cruz stands against bipartisan efforts to support law enforcement because he only cares about his petty politics and self-serving grandstanding – not supporting the men and women who are working to keep Texans safe. Standing with our police and border patrol means working with both parties, and that’s something Ted Cruz refuses to do,” said Texas Democratic Party spokesperson Ryan Radulovacki.

Get the facts on Cruz’s record:

  • Last Congress, Cruz voted against the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act – supported by John Cornyn and Colin Allred – which created $1.5 billion in grants to law enforcement across the country.

  • In his first full year in the Senate, Cruz voted against $1.17 billion for law enforcement.

    • Then he voted against $1.24 billion more in funding for law enforcement support, which John Cornyn voted for.

  • The following year, Cruz again voted against $1.4 billion in law enforcement funding.
